Jean Taylor’s husband has just died and she isn’t the grief stricken widow that people assume she is. She has been hiding secrets about her husband for years and she must now decide who she is and what she wants to reveal. The audio book of “The widow” is narrated by several people playing the roles of the characters in the novel. It’s a potentially interesting story, but the novel goes back and forth in time so you need to pay close attention to the time frame and the characters to keep it all straight. As with many British mysteries, it is complex and dark, but full of surprises. Recommended for the reader who enjoys a detective story with secrets that are revealed little by little along the way.
