Amish Millionaire Series (Brunstetter/Brunstetter)

Amish Millionaire Series (Brunstetter/Brunstetter)

I feel like this series was a marketing ploy.  They could have easily (and better) told the story in one regular novel.  I feel like they were trying to force people to buy multiple books, and for someone like me trying to listen to them on Hoopla, it ate up an entire month’s of checkouts!

I have decided I am not a fan of books written by Wanda AND her daughter-in-law Jean Brunstetter.  I really wonder if Jean isn’t doing the writing and Wanda is just putting her name on the cover.   They are not well written, the dialog is awkward and throughout the entire series I just kept thinking “no one talks like this”.  I’ve read (or tried to read) a couple of other Brunstetter/Brunstetter titles and felt the same way.  I have enjoyed Wanda Brunstetter’s books in the past, but have decided that in the future, if they are co-written, I will probably avoid them.

The Amish Millionaire series is about a young man, Joel Byler, who has left the Amish faith. He seems to think the world, and his family, owe him and he doesn't hesitate to spend money -- whether he has it to spend or not.  He asks his wealthy and eccentric Amish father for money—again—straining the already weak bond between Joel Byler, his father, and his sisters. Will the worldly young man ever learn he must pay for his own mistakes—and at what cost to his business, his fiancée, and his Amish family?
