They say the Lord of Treasures hosts a tournament for the very best and the very worst, the dreamers and the broken. He’ll play a game with you unlike any tournament you have ever played. You might have to find your true name in a castle of stars, or wrestle your voice from a demon, or sip poison and eat fear…
I was lucky enough to have been given a chance by St. Martin’s Griffin to read this before it came out and was SO happy when I saw that Tinna had purchased this masterpiece of a book for the library. For those of you who weren’t sure, even though this book is considered to be book two of her Star-Touched Queen series, this book can actually be a standalone. There are some characters that *might* pop up from book one but you don’t have to read it to understand what’s happening here. Even though I have read and really enjoyed the first, this one blew it out of the water.
He was handsome in a way that made me want to kick him.
Gauri and Vikram are AMAZING main characters. Guari is headstrong and brave but also very real in the sense that she makes her fair share of mistakes. Vikram is cunning but kind and never ceases to poke at the surly bear that is Gauri. Their love isn’t rushed, isn’t forced. They are both human and my heart is just so full for having met them.
Do you want to be brave?
The plot is engaging and the writing is so entirely beautiful. It had my heart pounding and stole my breath on more than one occasion. The Tournament of Wishes reminded me a bit of the game in Caraval so if you enjoyed that, this one should also be a winner!
